What is Segmentectomy? Robotic Surgery in Segmentectomy

What is Segmentectomy?

Segmentectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the cancerous part of the lung. The lungs are divided into smaller sections called 'segments' and only the cancerous segment is removed during this procedure. This method allows the preservation of healthy lung tissue and is especially preferred in early stage lung cancer.

Segmentectomy with Robotic Surgery

Robotic surgery allows segmentectomy to be performed in a more precise and controlled manner. The robotic system allows the surgeon to get a more detailed view and perform operations with smaller incisions. This means less pain, shorter hospital stay and faster recovery time for the patient.

Advantages of Robotic Surgery:

Less Invasive: Robotic surgery is less invasive compared to traditional open surgery.

Less Risk of Complications: Small incisions reduce the risk of infection and minimize blood loss.

Faster Recovery: Patients recover faster after the operation and return to their daily lives more quickly.

Segmentectomy is a promising treatment option, especially for patients with early-stage lung cancer. When combined with robotic surgery, this method becomes a less invasive, safer and faster recovery alternative.
